UFO fun will return to Exeter - Seacoast Online

EXETER — The Exeter UFO Festival will mark its third anniversary this Labor Day weekend with a new sponsor, new and returning speakers, and a celebration of New Hampshire's most famous alien sighting.

Dean Merchant, the festival's organizer, said businesses and nonprofits will combine their talents for a day of out-of-this-world fun on Sept. 3 in downtown Exeter.

This September marks the 50th anniversary of the alleged alien abduction of the late Betty and Barney Hill of Portsmouth. The Hills were returning from a Canadian vacation and were driving through the White Mountains when they reportedly saw an alien craft and were taken on board. The experience gained them national fame, and they were the subjects of books and at least one movie. To her dying day, Betty Hill continued to report UFO sightings, some of them in Exeter.

This year, Merchant said, the Hills will be inducted posthumously into the Exeter UFO Festival Hall of Fame.

The event has a three-fold purpose, according to Merchant: It gets people into downtown Exeter; benefits local businesses; and provides visitors with something to do on Labor Day weekend.

The Exeter Kiwanis Club will sponsor this year's festival.

Pamela Gjettum, Kiwanis past president and current secretary, is a longtime Exeter booster. "We like the fact that the festival brings loads of people to downtown Exeter," she said.

The Kiwanis were involved from the start, setting up a food stand and making money for local charities, she said, and the festival gives them a good platform.

"We needed a big downtown festival," Gjettum said, and the UFO event fills the need. The events have drawn 1,000 people to downtown, she said.

And it's fun, Gjettum said. The event serves two groups: the "true believers," who cluster around Town Hall and the nationally known speakers; and people who come to Exeter to "have a good time and spend their money."

Merchant has stayed on as festival organizer and reported that several popular events will be back. The Children's Festival at Founders Park, next to the library, will feature a "story circle," crafts and its signature event: building a spacecraft out of recyclable items in the "debris field." Pamela Merchant, Dean's wife, is heading up the children's activities.

Neil and Elaina Santerre of Santerre's Stones and Stuff will provide a central hub for downtown activities and redemption of prizes. "It's 'Starship Command,'" Merchant said. He expects other downtown merchants to get into the spirit with sales and special promotions such as the Loaf & Ladle's "UFO Whoopie Pie."

The Loaf & Ladle will also be the site of an "Alien Cafe" with local acoustic musicians. And the Kiwanis Club will set up a grill for quick snacks across from Town Hall.

The Alien Pet Costume Contest returns, to be judged by Seacoast Media Group columnist Gina Carbone, he said.

While the festival offers something for everyone, the serious UFO buff will find everything they need in Town Hall, the site of the annual lecture series. The speaker series begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with Kathleen Marden, Betty Hill's niece and author of several books on alien phenomena; filmmakers Jeff and Jessie Finn, who are making a documentary on the Hills' experiences; and Steve Furmani of the New England Mutual UFO Network. Speakers also include renowned UFO researchers and writers Stanton Freedman and Richard Dolan.

Authors and speakers will sign books and go one-on-one with believers in a "Meet and Greet" room. In the evening, Merchant said he hopes to show the film "Strange September," about the Hills and their experience.

All events are free, with the festival funded by donations and sales of souvenir T-shirts. Proceeds from the T-shirt sales go to local children's charities, after taking out "seed money" for the following year's event. Merchant said last year's proceeds went to Big Brothers Big Sisters, New Outlook Teen Center, and to local families in need through the owner of a children's clothing store.

And, he said, the event raises understanding of unexplained phenomena. Exeter was also the site of the "Incident at Exeter," a sighting documented in another book by Fuller, and there have been less-publicized events in the town.

Scientist: We'll meet aliens within 20 years - CNET News

Just as Bigfeet tend to emerge during the summer period, so it is with UFOs.

It is natural to be skeptical. If these strange phenomena really did exist, why haven't their captains exposed themselves on our streets? Why haven't they sat down with Katie Couric and Oprah?

And yet two events have conflated to, yet again, send a frisson of excitement through the bones of those who seek extraterrestrial contact.

First, as reported by Reuters, a top Russian astronomer, Andrei Finkelstein, director of none other than the Russian Academy of Sciences' Applied Astronomy Institute, declared that we would meet aliens within 20 years.

His rationale is lofty, but strong.

He reportedly said that of the planets that circle the many suns out there in the black beyond, 10 percent have some similarity to our own Earth. From this he extrapolates that, sooner or only slightly later, there will be a cross-cultural encounter between ourselves and selves that may or may not resemble little green elves.

"They may have different color skin, but even we have that," Finkelstein curiously offered.

Such positing has been going on since before H.G. Wells tried to scare people listening to the radio. Indeed, not so long ago, Stephen Hawking said that we should be most concerned that aliens will actually despise us and simply want to pillage our land for its, um, fast food joints. (I paraphrase slightly.)

Perhaps we'll find out sooner than 2031. For currently there is a mild frenzy occurring over on YouTube with the emergence of videos that purport to show a UFO mothership and her fleet over London, scouting, perhaps, places to stay during the 2012 Olympics.

My first reaction to these videos was "there's yet another alien summer blockbuster movie coming out?" Yours might well be the same. And yet, as more of these YouTube videos have emerged, more than 1 million people have been lured to watch them and wonder.

Those with a sanguine perspective will have considered whether aliens already exist in our midst and have been sent to examine our way of life. I know a couple of people who, for example, wonder where Keanu Reeves might originally be from.

The only definitive answers will come when we can be sure that we can believe our own eyes and our own news media providers.

But if Finkelestein happens to be correct, humans' perspective on life-- even on technology-- might change drastically well before today's youths are able to pay off their student loans.

UFO's;Mothership And Its Fleet's; Seen In London Skies - HULIQ.com

A UFO formation photographed over Morristown, Pennsylvania, January 2009.

Have we finally acquired incontrovertible proof of extraterrestrial visitation? Or has someone well-versed in special effects gimmickry simply posted another in a long line of UFO video hoaxes on YouTube? Perhaps it is even an example of guerilla marketing, a precursor to more videos -- or movie trailers -- to come? All these explanations have been suggested in the past few days as millions have accessed the video (said to be one of three) of a UFO "mothership" and its attendant "fleet" of smaller UFOs caught skimming the cloud-fille skies above London. The video has, of course, gone viral.

First uploaded by alymc01 on June 24, the setting is London on a cloudy day. The viewer enters with the videographer running down a sidewalk near the BBC Building to a corner where several people on both sides of the street are already looking up at the sky. The viewer is then presented with several bright lights -- and several fainter lit images -- moving across the sky from the videographer's left to right. Bout one minute into the slightly more than two-minute video, a larger, brighter white disc appears and slowly performs a few rotating maneuvers before moving off.

The UFO video, entitled "UFOs Over London BBC Radio 1 Building," is accompanied by the caption: "Right - took over a week to get it....but finally managed to get these critters on camera on a clear day, and even get a close-up. It seems to be attracting quite a crowd now when they appear. Can anyone explain what on earth these lights are please?"

A quick glance below each of the uploaded videos (EllasVirgo currently has the most views, pulling in over 2 million views to date) and the answer to alymc01's question seems to have been in the affirmative. Many believe the video to be a hoax. Some are saying it is proof that the aliens have come. Some are saying it could be a marketing campaign for an upcoming science fiction movie, possibly "Iron Sky."

In fact, Benjamin Radford at Life's Little Mysteries, a sister website to LiveScience, posted a somewhat detailed debunking of the video, noting that the video's "crudeness" may be the best evidence of its "fakery."

Radford offers: "The mothership and its UFO siblings videotaped over London are among the absolute easiest images to fake: glowing ovals and dots. There's no detail, no flying saucer windows or aliens waving hello from high above. Just white moving dots that anyone with some video-editing chops could create with little effort."

Radford also points out the inordinate amount of time the videographer takes getting the reaction of the people looking up at the sky. Although this could presumably be explained by noting that the videographer could have been confused by what was causing the disturbance, but, as Radford points out, the videographer pulls the focus of the video from the skies above about halfway through the video to again pan the passersby. Radford believes this to be the strongest evidence of a hoax: Wouldn't someone recording an event like the appearance of UFOs be more interested in the UFOs than in getting the reactions of those observing the mysterious flying objects?

Radford is joined in his skepticism by Steve Mostyn at The Tech Herald, who notes that it is "worth noting that the footage was captured in close proximity to The Mill and Framestore, two of the world’s leading special effects houses for the movie industry."

Another possible indicator that the video is a hoax is its appearance on YouTube instead of on some media outlet website or television channel. An authentic video capturing the first images of possible extraterrestrial visitation would be of inestimable value. Of course, the videographer could be of a non-capitalist bent, a more free-share type of individual.

So... is it another hoax or is it an authentic video of a grouping of UFOs? Or, like the Phoenix Lights formation captured by several videographers in 1997, could it have a rational explanation as a sensational incident caused by more mundane events (like a string of slow-burning flares dropped by passing planes on military maneuvers)?

Regardless, videos and images like the London UFO "mothership and its fleet" will continue to draw interest, fake or not. It is part of human nature to question, to wonder, to quest, to discover, to solve. And even if all such images could eventually be explained, they are testament to the very human need to imagine and dream -- if only of what might be possible.

Alien abduction investigator reveals his most credible UFO top ten - Independent

A fisherman who claimed to be abducted and then rejected by aliens for being "too old and infirm" and two policemen who spotted a spaceship hovering over a road are among a list of close encounters revealed by Britain's very own X-file investigator.

Nick Pope was employed by the British Ministry of Defence to investigate alien abduction and sightings as part of their now defunct UFO Project.

Over the years, he had to analyse hundreds of possible sightings and encounters to decide whether they had any merit or were a threat to Britain's "territorial integrity".

He worked alone but could call on the help of a range of other Government experts to check the voracity of the claims, which came from a diverse number of sources including ordinary members of the public, the police and servicemen.

While none showed real proof of the existence of extra terrestrials, many remain a mystery to this day.

Now for the first time he has compiled his top 10 most creditable and bizarre stories that crossed his desk during his time deep in the heart of Whitehall.

"The vast majority of the people were mistaken," said Mr Pope, 45, who worked for the department between 1991 and 1994.

"Most of them turned out to be aircraft lights, weather balloons or meteorites. Quite a lot of times especially at night alcohol had played its part.

"Clearly other people were delusional and others even showed signs of mental illness. But some people may have seen something very interesting and as yet unexplained."

He said that during the department's operating life – from 1950 to 2008 – the most convincing sighting remains when American air force personnel spotted space craft hovering over their base at Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk.

At the same time radiation levels around the aerodrome spiked.

"This was Britain's own Roswell," said Mr Pope referring to a famous incident in the USA when the air force claimed to have seized a flying saucer and which continues to cause debate among UFO experts.

"It remains totally unexplained."

Other creditable and unexplained stories include when two police officers reported seeing a "Saturn-like UFO" over in North London after being called out by a member of the public.

There were a number of sightings by commercial airline pilots who claimed to have had near misses with UFOs and a meteorological Officer who witnessed a huge, triangular-shaped craft fly slowly over RAF Shawbury, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Other stories were more bizarre and on the surface, less creditable, said Mr Pope.

A former Army officer Alfred Burtoo, 73, claimed he was abducted in 1983 by little green men while out fishing.

He said he was taken on-board the ship, but heard a voice say "You can go. You are too old and infirm for our purpose".

He told his wife he had seen a UFO but did not mention being taken on-board, because he thought she would ban him from fishing.

In Somerset, a couple saw a UFO over a field and when they investigated they found cows standing silently in the middle of the field, facing each other in a perfect circle as "if in a meeting".

Mr Pope said some sightings by airlines pilots seemed suspiciously like missiles or prototype drones which could be "foreign powers testing our space" or top secret projects.

However, neither the MoD nor the Civil Aviation Authority ever found an explanation.

Mr Pope said that his time on the project made him less sceptical about possible aliens.

"I went in thinking that it was all rubbish but came out thinking actually some of this is quite interesting," he said.

"But when X-files television series came out I was the victim of some fairly good natured ribbing."

Mr Pope compiled his list to coincide with the release on Blu-ray and DVD of the film Battle: Los Angeles on 11 July.

The Aliens Are Coming! - The Frisky

The Aliens Are Coming!

I’ve been obsessing about where and when I would have my first close encounter of the third kind since middle school. My teacher, Mr. Vice, was a little bit of an alien conspiracy theorist. His bulletin boards were covered with clippings from the National Enquirer, which at the time, mostly did articles about Oprah being fat and alien/Bigfoot/Loch Ness Monster sightings. He spent our four hours a week together showing us an array of videos—“Aliens and the Mayans,” “The Truth About Roswell,” Aliens in Ancient Egypt,” “Crop Circles: An Extraterrestrial Playground.” When I started sleeping on my parent’s floor in the middle of seventh grade (I convinced myself that our back yard doubled as a UFO landing strip, I mean we did live in Arizona) they pulled me out of the gifted program. I tried to push images of flying saucer abductions out of my mind as I drifted off to sleep. My parents told me it would never happen, that Mr. Vice was a lunatic. Maybe Mr. Vice wasn’t crazy, maybe he was a man before his time, or even an alien himself sent to prepare us for his race’s arrival.

According to Professor Andrei Finkelstein, the director of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Applied Astronomy Institute, we will make contact with alien life forms within the next 20 years and that they will most likely resemble us. Considering 10 percent of the planets in the galaxy resemble the earth in composition, it is statistically unlikely that we are the only intelligent life in the universe. Of course, he’s right. And so was Mr. Vice! I knew it! The aliens are coming. My parent’s lied to me. And now I’m too old for it to be socially acceptable to sleep on their floor. What am I going to do for the next 20 years? [Daily Mail UK]

UFO's? Alien Extraterrestrials? Is there some THING on the Moon? - American Chronicle

An American Moonwalker answers questions about high strangeness on the lunar surface, and beyond.

(STARpod.org) -- In 1971, Apollo astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell walked on the Moon.

Mitchell is one of only twelve humans to have explored the lunar surface.

Recently, I contacted Dr. Mitchell by email, after reading about the forthcoming fictionalized lunar mission film 'Apollo 18' -- "there's a reason we've never gone back to the moon" -- concerning what he may or may not know about an alleged alien presence.

(Meanwhile, questions have been raised about when 'Apollo 18' will be landing in theaters. Currently the film is said to be on schedule for a September 2, 2011 release date.)

Are there extraterrestrial aliens based on the Moon? And how much does NASA, or anyone else in the US government, know?

The source of the 'aliens on the moon' story worked with the CIA and later held a TOP SECRET clearance for his contribution to a clandestine effort to obtain intelligence using "unusual sources and methods."

According to this source, Ingo Swann, there is something very strange happening on the far side of the Moon.

In his out-of-print book "Penetration," Swann related how, in 1975, he was recruited by an ultra-secret black-ops group interested in special observations of specific lunar coordinates.

When Swann checked the coordinates, he was shocked to see humanoid beings and artificial constructions on the lunar surface, all bathed in an eerie green fog.

Ingo Swann was recruited by American intelligence services -- we have US government files which confirm this -- to use his extraordinary human skills to psychically penetrate targets outside of the range of conventional observation.

The problem with Swann's far-out story is that the 'observations' were made with his mind's eye.

Swann was America's best psychic spy, following the untimely death of Pat Price, another star in CIA's covert program to use paranormal phenomena for remote viewing of intelligence targets.

As for the alleged black ops interested in lunar interlopers? Even Swann does not know -- or at the least, he isn't telling.

So when I contacted astronaut Mitchell, I naturally inquired if he knew anything about visitors inhabiting our nearest neighbor in space, noting that Kit Green, a former CIA analyst who consults to the US Defense Intelligence Agency on emerging technology threats, had come forward about government contact with alleged extraterrestrial biological entities (see Mark Pilkington's book "Mirage Men" and my own "Spies, Lies, and Polygraph Tape" for further information on the alleged alien presence).

"Gary, glad to exchange with you on these issues. I don't know that I have perfect answers, but I do have some, " Mitchell replied.

Story continues with Mitchell's response at

The Enigma of the Mysterious Men in Black, Part 1

Alright folks! They say the truth is out there! But I say it's right here in this article! Or so I pretentiously imagine. So let's get right down to it and asked the number one question:

Who and what are the real Men in Black?

They are Shadow Men, Dark Strangers, Ominous Visitors, Sinister Intruders, the Silencers -- and yes! -- Men in Black! Call them what you will! Forget about Agents J and K in that heretical Men in Black movie and its silly sequel; these flicks are sheer fantasy, if not insults upon the genuine MIB mythology. In fact, those two movies were probably part of yet another grand cover-up, creating misdirection and misinformation for misguided gullible people like us, so that we will believe these strange dark men are actually heroic figures, saving us from evil aliens and invaders. But this kind of hoopla is simply something out of science-fiction and not even remotely real. Remember, the government covers up the cover-up, and then all that is covered up again, so that we don't know what is really being covered up anymore! It's all swept under the carpet! Which should make us kind of suspicious about that odd lumpy carpet -- eh?

So the real questions are: Who are they? What are they doing here? Where do they come from? Another world? Another time? Another dimension? Are these mysterious men in black products of science-fiction or science fact? Or do they fall in the cracks somewhere in between? Slipping through the cracks and crevices, down to some dismal abyss out of sight and out of mind. And if there are Men in Black, are there also Men in White? Of course there are! And they're coming to take me away-ha-ha!

And, above all: are there Women in Black? If it's true that women will always continue to be a mystery to men, obviously women in black are a thousand times more mysterious! Bottom line: Men in Black do in fact exist -- at least that's my gullible contention. They're out there! And so is the truth! It's out there too! And they're hiding it from us! Trust no one! Not them! Not you! Not even me! Because I probably don't know what I'm freaking talking about!

Okay, folks, ever since that harmless weather balloon (HA!) crashed near Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947, there was a gigantic explosion of UFO sightings all over the world! Everyone was seeing flying saucers everywhere and everyone was being abducted by aliens! (Don't mind me, I'm just attempting to incite a riot of dramatic effect here.) Then suddenly the mysterious Shadow Men were seen lurking around UFO eyewitnesses' doorsteps to shut them up, to silence them, threatening cruel punishment if they parted their tender lips to the Press, Police, FBI, NSA, CIA, IBM, KFC, anyone and everyone who would listen! The insidious Men in Black have been perpetrating a major conspiracy of epileptic proportions, initiating countless cover-ups to conceal their diabolical agenda! There's no room for conspiratorial theory here, just outright pulling the wool over innocent people=s eyes. These insidious intruders instigate the concealment of dark secrets, raw facts, and debilitating data, so people will remain in the dark. But why? What's so frightening? What's out there anyway? Monsters under the bed? The Bogeyman? Santa Claus in the nude? I dunno -- I'm still trying to figure that out myself.

Hollywood has glorified these ominously sinister Dark Intruders -- but it's a romantic ruse that is deceiving people who just want to know what the heck's going on behind closed doors. The amusing Men in Black movies may hold minuscule grains of truth, but not much, because they're filled with impossible outworldishly fantastic boat-loads of ridiculous gobbledygook. That's not to say I didn't enjoy them, because I did -- immensely! But I had to just keep in mind that I was observing sheer fantasy, in contrast to the actual facts that I knew concerning the real Men in Black mythology -- or notions that are as close to actual factual facts as remotely ambiguously possible, or at least counterfeit facsimiles thereof.

On the other hand, my left hand in fact, the extravagant sci-fi chiller thriller flick called The Shadow Men is closer to the mark - somewhat vaguely at any rate. At least it urges you to reluctantly ask hypothetical questions, such as: "Why are they just men, and wearing only black? Are any of them cross-dressers wearing black dresses?" But more importantly you will ask, "Where's all the Women in Black?" I'd say, probably at funerals. And you'll probably ask, "Why do they wear those ominous dark shades? And what's behind them? Big black bug eyes? Red eyes? Cat's eyes? No eyes? What?!" There are numerous blatantly conflicting reports on this (even in my own personal notes) -- which means that nobody really knows anything.

Here's more quagmire-drenched inquiries: Are they only night-dwellers? Are they sensitive to sunlight? Do these sinister creatures live only in darkness? Are they afraid of the light? Are they satanic cultists? Who are they? What are they? And what are they doing here? Why are they threatening and shutting people up? What are they covering up? Yes, we know there are UFOs and aliens out there, so what are they doing here? Are they planning an invasion of the Earth and so they're hiding that little dark secret from us? Alright, it's just a theory so far, but I think I'm on to something here. I'm getting closer and closer, day by day, in my not so futile effort of unearthing the truth about what on Earth is happening around here -- and what's really happening out there -- up in the sky and out in space in particular where the UFOs seem to be coming from. What the explanations of these unexplained phenomenon are, I don't know yet. But I'm definitely getting closer. You see, I don't have a whole lot of answers. But mostly I have a million more questions. Such as, do they have some kind of cosmic suggestion box where I can drop all my millions of questions?

And let's not forget: If the truth is really out there, where the heck is it?

SETI: Between A Rock And A Hard Place

SETI, the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence, is in the main the scanning of the heavens by radio telescopes for artificial radio signals emitted either deliberately or via leakage from technologically advanced extraterrestrial civilizations. The search has been on again, off again, but mainly on again for over 50 years, without, to date, any positive resolution (you can't prove a negative, so the hunt continues, in case). Unfortunately, despite their ongoing failure to detect ETI, they rubbish those involved in other types of SETI - like UFOs and 'ancient astronauts'.

Now some SETI scientists have spend a goodly proportion of their careers, maybe even their entire careers doing their search thing. What that tells me is that way down deep inside, at a scientific gut-feeling even philosophical level, they are convinced that one or more (probably more) advanced extraterrestrial civilizations, our equals or better (probably better) exist. That's really great!

However, those same SETI scientists, when asked if that advanced extraterrestrial civilization(s) might have not only radio technology, but subluminal interstellar spaceflight abilities, well the eyebrows start heading north. To further ask them whether those advanced ET civilizations might have been, and might currently be now, on-site (i.e. - here around Planet Earth), well the eyebrows head up to the North Pole!

So, ET radio transmissions good; but ET visitations bad!

The nasty bit is that subluminal interstellar spaceflight violates no laws of physics; no laws of engineering. The time it takes to boldly go, seek out and explore, even colonize the galaxy our solar system is home to, is but a fraction of the age of our home galaxy. So, if radio ET exists, as SETI scientists must have faith in regarding that premise, then ET interstellar travel, exploration and colonization is equally plausible. SETI scientists can not logically dismiss that plausibility, especially if there's a reasonable few advanced ET civilizations out there, and keeping in mind it only takes one such bolding going ET civilization to saturate our galaxy with their presence.

Now it needs to be pointed out and re-enforced again, and again, that a visitation to Planet Earth has bugger-all, zip, zilch to do with humans beings currently residing here or ET responding to our own radio leakage. You see that's the SETI scientist's argument why ET's UFOs cannot be here. The signature of our existence here travels into the cosmos via EM radiation at light speed. Translated, our only plausible detectable EM signature is our radio/radar waves, which have only been outward bound for a century of so. So, the maximum radius our ET has to be, in order to know about us is 100 or so light years. But they then have to hop in their UFOs and travel through interstellar space to visit us, so the practical radius shrinks. The two constraints mean that ET would have to be close by, something probably against all the cosmic odds. But that argument is so flawed as to be laughable. This is an egocentric trip personified! ET can only be here because humans are here! Crap!

Humans here are irrelevant to ET being here. The reason Planet Earth gets a visit is that ET was roaming around the stellar neighbourhood doing their Captain Cook or Captain Kirk sticky-beak exploring thing, and our star, our Sun, Sol is one of the better candidates as a bio-friendly mainstream star and one having a home to a planetary system, ably detected by ET before-the-fact in the same manner as we in turn detect extra-solar planetary systems today. So Mr. Spock says to Captain ET, "Sir, Sol isn't very far out of our way to take a look at the planetary regime, especially as how I've spectroscopically detected potential biological signatures of oxygen and methane in the atmosphere of one of the planets." And so ET's starship zeros in for a closer look, and our Mr. Spock exclaims, "Sir, hey wow, that third rock from Sol has a biosphere. Fascinating! Let's catalogue that!"

Okay, so that conversation took place 300 million years ago. That interesting data point now pointed the way and reason for numerous follow-up visits, visits that might be continuing right through to the present day. The critical thing (apart from humans having nothing to do with ET's initial visit) is that once that data-point was noted and logged it could in turn be communicated to other advanced ET's out there. By now, over 300 million years or so, maybe more, maybe less, since first visit (hardly first contact) the whole bloody galaxy knows about Sol, her third rock outwards, and that biosphere!

Okay, having dismissed the improbable humans-are-responsible for ET being here non-argument, one need ask, without human influences, how often can we expect, on average, Captain ET and crew to show up?

The physicist Edward U. Condon, in his very own summary to the report of the team of investigators who looked into the UFO issue under a government (USAF) contract, never ruled out the possibility of extraterrestrial visitors, only that 10,000 years between visits was a minimum figure. That's in the report that he gave the thumbs down to regarding the UFO ETH (extraterrestrial hypothesis). UFOs today - no; visits by ETI every 10,000 years was okay, enough time for them to get from there to here. On the other hand, noted astronomer and exobiologist (now termed an astrobiologist) Carl Sagan thought 100,000 years between visitations was a reasonable ballpark figure.

Now, depending on who's calculations you accept, whether you're an optimist or a pessimist, an interstellar boldly going ET civilization should have come across Planet Earth, on average, every 10,000 according to Condon [2], which is an order of magnitude more frequent that the 100,000 years given by Sagan [1]. It has been pointed out, and it's certainly true, that given the age of our Planet Earth, it would be Royal Flush times 1000 odds if a first visit just happened to have, well happened, in our lifetime. But, and here's where the SETI scientist's position becomes untenable, our planet, at 4.5 billions years of age (far younger than the age of our galaxy) should have received somewhere between 45,000 (Sagan) visits overall and 450,000 (Condon) visits overall by ET. Our SETI scientist would say that our "now" falls between the visitations -those gaps when ET is doing his interstellar boldly going thing somewhere else.

What the SETI scientist fails to come to terms with, fails to grasp, doesn't quite have the smarts to understand and accept, is the once Planet Earth has been found, the first of those 45,000 or 450,000 expected visits, while certainly isn't going to be in our "now", the second, third, fourth, etc. visit will no longer reflect 'on average', something hinted at earlier.

I would have to assume, that ET, from the first visit, all those years ago (thousands, millions, even billions of years ago) wouldn't have tagged Planet Earth as just another hunk of planetary debris, unworthy of any ongoing interest. From the get-go, Planet Earth would have showed unusual traits - an atmosphere, not so much; a lithosphere, not so much; a hydrosphere, yes indeed, very much; but especially a biosphere, very, very, very much.

If ET has any scientific curiosity worthy of the name, same as our SETI scientists are curious about ET, then Planet Earth would not only be routinely tagged and entered into the alien's database, but uniquely tagged as an abode worthy of an advanced rate of follow-up visitations. We would be monitored, maybe not 24/7, but more frequently than once every 450,000 to 45,000 years.

But even if that interval had been maintained, well that puts visitations well within the range of the time when modern humans were already established as the future if not already the dominant lords and masters of Planet Earth. By Jove our ET neighbours would be certainly stepping up surveillance of this development. They'd obviously want to keep tabs on whether or not our intelligence might ever prove to be a threat to their intelligence, for just as Planet Earth can not hide from the scrutiny and surveillance of ET, so to ET can not hide from ours, once we start to boldly go.

So, ET radio transmissions good; but ET visitations bad! I don't think so, and any SETI scientist who suspects otherwise is akin to the proverbial ostrich's head surveying that sand dune.

Translated, any ET with smarts who knows about us from visitations millennia ago; millions of years ago, would be here now keeping a watchful eye on us. Sorry SETI scientists, UFOs are a logical outcome of this scenario, and if you fail to se this, well, you're in a Catch-22 situation; you're between a rock and a hard place!

SETI is in a Catch-22 because on the one hand SETI scientists cannot reject ETI here at the same time searching for and accepting the presence of ETI out there when both possibilities are equally plausible. SETI scientists cannot search for ETI out there, yet refuse to search for ETI locally when the evidence for both is technically the same. SETI scientists say there's no evidence (or poor evidence) for ETI here - yet there's (to date) no evidence (or poor evidence) for ETI out there, yet they stake their professional careers on ETI out there and rubbish ETI here. How so the rubbishing?

Of course the SETI scientists counter that each of the threads of ETI having been then or now on Earth are weak-in-the-knees when it comes to solid evidence. Roswell is weak; UFO abduction cases are weak; the UFO conspiracy or cover-up case is weak; UFO photographs and videos are weak; UFO radar cases are weak; the case for von Daniken's ancient astronauts is weak; the ghost rocket sightings (1946) are weak; contactee claims are especially weak; UFO eye-witness reports are unreliable, etc. But, put them (and much more besides) all together and like all good detective stories combine/integrate all the clues into one composite whole (after separating out the wheat from the chaff and eliminating the red herrings) then the whole is more than the sum of the parts. You get a consistent pattern that emerges; not the radio signal patter-of-little-dots-and-dashes the SETI scientist wants but a nuts-and-bolts and a here-and-now pattern.

Now admittedly any one of a hundred different and independent threads might in itself be not all that convincing, but then all 100 are woven together - that's a different duck of another colour. It's like if it looks like a duck - it may not be a duck. If it walks like a duck - it may not be a duck. If it swims like a duck - it may not be a duck. If it quacks like a duck - it may not be a duck. But if it looks, walks, swims and quacks like a duck - then it's a duck!

But there's another quirk on the part of SETI scientists; the ultimate Catch-22: As already noted, SETI scientists in general are on record as stating that there's "poor" or "crummy" evidence overall for the rival UFO ETH or 'ancient astronauts' and as such, are topics not worthy of a SETI scientist's time and presumably that of any physical scientist or indeed any scientist full stop. Yet the evidence collected for ETI out there in the depths of interstellar space in traditional SETI-land, 50 years plus on, is equally as poor whether there is one SETI "WOW" signal (as usually highlighted in SETI books) or a 1000 SETI mini-wow signals of unknown origin, but strongly suspected to have ultimate terrestrial origins. SETI scientists have come no closer to providing the ETI 'smoking gun' as has Erich Von Daniken ('ancient astronauts') or Stanton Friedman (UFO ETH).

At best that's an attitude or a philosophy that is inconsistent at best and perhaps a contradiction at worst within the SETI community. In fact, it's a downright double standard. If I were a young scientist just starting out, would I consider SETI? Probably not because there's so little evidence of such poor quality that's emerged over five long decades that I'd think I'd probably be wasting my time and throwing my career away. So, whether it's SETI or UFOs or 'ancient astronauts' it's all equally piss-poor evidence, but at least it's a level, playing field. It's still quite plausible that an amateur UFO buff or an archaeologist may yet scoop SETI to the ETI punch.

My ultimate conclusion and recommendation to those between the irresistible force and the immoveable object is to not put all your SETI eggs in the EM basket.

You Just Gotta Believe Tink!

Have you ever seen a UFO? Millions of us have, credible reports have been made by hundreds and thousands and even the Apollo 11 astronauts reported sightings of strange phenomenon. But what does the government say? Nonsense! No such thing, never was never will be; yet the sightings continue. Unexplainable events, which cause the government's explanation of, no such thing to fall to pieces. Travis Walton's disappearance for five days after his coworkers reported his abduction is case in point.

Betty and Barney Hill reported being abducted and that the aliens showed her a star map of where they claimed to be from. Skeptic's claimed there was no such constellation but several years later it was found and only visible from the Southern Hemisphere of earth. But before I go too much further, I ask not do you believe in UFO's but why do you believe the way that you do?

Is it a faith-based belief? Or a science belief or a perhaps a personal belief based on experiences or is it a comfort belief. I have known those who refuse to accept the possibility of UFO's because it is an uncomfortable belief. Like reading ghost stories alone late at night they are far more comfortable to read in daylight even if you don't believe in ghosts. It plays on our fight or flight reflex to be attacked by the unknown and to be unable to judge fight or flight because of the hiddeness of the adversary and our powerlessness to stop them.

As humankind has reached out into space it has become easier to believe that there might be other societies more advanced than our own doing the same. Yet our government insists it is not so, reams of evidence even from their own astronauts yet adamantly they contend it is not so. Many will believe on that alone, just because the government says so, evidence be hanged the government says it's not so and that is all they need to hear.

So do you believe in Al Queda? Have you ever seen one? Do you know anyone who has ever seen one? Do you know anyone who has seen a UFO? Before September 11,2001 There probably weren't a thousand people outside the government who had ever heard of Al Queda. The CIA estimated 3000 members worldwide including bookkeepers and bottle washers. There are more than 10,000 UFO sightings worldwide every year yet the majority of the population and the government denies their existence.

My point is this, why do you believe that there is such an organization as Al Queda? Why is this belief so prevalent that all candidates from all the parties now vow to fight Al Queda yet none can produce any evidence of their existence. If a candidate were to announce in a campaign speech that he would spare no expense to fight off UFO's he would be laughed from the podium. Yet there is far more independent evidence of UFO's than there is independent evidence of Al Queda.

The government and the media proclaim that one exists and is a clear and present danger while insisting that the other is silliness for nut cases and tin foil hats, blithely ignoring any evidence to the contrary. Every major power in the world has investigated UFO's and on some level taken them quite seriously. The paranoid Soviet regime declared them a threat so much that fighter aircraft were launched in response. In one case a Soviet fighter fired on an unidentified craft and the craft returned fire knocking the Soviet plane from the sky.

Today a more pragmatic Russian government is strangely quiet about Al Queda even though they have there own problem with Muslim extremists. The Muslim's fighting the war in Chechnya have committed as many or more acts of terrorism than we have seen in the west. Yet the Russian government refers to them as Chechen rebels or Muslim extremists rather than the western nom de plume of Al Queda, Are they not connected? Or have the Russians just missed the buzzword boat?

All evidence of Al Queda's existence comes from the government the President said the name of Al Queda 95 times in his last speech. We know that Al Queda knocked down the twin towers because the government assured us it was so. Just as they assured us that Spanish terrorists blew up the battleship Maine and North Vietnamese patrol boats attacked us in the Gulf of Tonkin and Saddam was a supporter of Al Queda.

The government refuses to answer any questions about the Mossad agents arrested after cheering the attack on 9-11 or the inexplicable behavior of the Air Force on that day or even why air traffic controllers in the Pittsburgh were ordered to evacuate their tower. The government and the media insist that the conspiracy theories are silliness, a realm for nut cases and tin foil hats, blithely ignoring any evidence to the contrary.

During Stalinist times the Soviets sent thousands to the gulags on the charge of "wrecking." If your tractor wouldn't start or your factory machine broke maybe it was on purpose, maybe you were a wrecker! After Chairman Mao's death in China failure's were blamed on "The gang of four" the ruling hunta that followed Mao. Even in our own country during the red scare, people's careers were ruined on the charge of being a communist subversive.

Governments have and governments will always declare who are our friends as well as our enemies, but it all begins to swirl into a blur and I begin to hear Big Brothers voice on the monitor. Musharif is our best friend in the region but if Musharif doesn't do as we ask he is our enemy. The Saudi's are our friends and we will arm them but if unnamed persons do not stop funding and arming foreign fighters in Iraq there will be consequences. The Iraqi government is a sovereign government, Iraq must meet our benchmarks, we will stand down when the Iraqi's stand up, so I'm calling today for a troop surge.

Is there an Al Queda outside of the three thousand the CIA identified in 2001? I don't know, I guess it depends on who you ask. If you ask the administration they will tell you our almost 4000 dead and 30,000 wounded have barely scratched the surface. They estimate the cost climbing to one trillion dollars, a figure higher than the average calculators can reach but we must because they're every where. And we must fight them or the UFO's I mean the communist wreckers in the gang of four who are intent on conquering us and violating our vital fluids will win.

I guess it all depends on what you want to believe, years ago I saw something totally unexplainable in the sky but I knew that my government was totally uninterested. Then years later I saw something unexplainable and yet the government fully explained it sort of, provided you didn't ask too many questions they explained it. It 's the Peter Pan principle; you just gotta believe Tink!

Review: Area 51 For the PlayStation 2

Tags: area, Playstation, Review
Posted in Area 51 on June 29th, 2011 by RoswellUFOs.com

There are too many twists and turns to this game that I don't know where to start, so let's start at the beginning of the story. You start off with your character whose name is Ethan Cole a HazMat specialist, who was sent to the top secret government facility called Area51 to investigate what went wrong and who was responsible.

Once you get to Are 51 things start to get interesting and then they get ugly. The graphics are very well designed and the best you can get in the PlayStation 2 console. From the start the game gets good because you are suddenly caught in fire between you and mutated inhabitants. This game is full of surprises because you never know what is going to come out and scare you.

Also the game itself has a great story plot. Sudden changes, plot twists and conspiracy theories will shock you and will keep you from putting down that controller, yes the story will keep you on your toes!!

No first person shooter is complete without a set of artificially controlled team mates. The bad thing is that the team mates AI can suck, sometimes they hamper you more than help you.

In area 51 your team mates will actually give you cover and tell you where the enemies are coming from. The controls are easy to learn so you can start playing without worrying about having to learn all the controls, nothing complicated here. If you are looking for a new game to play then this game will not disappoint you. You can pick it up at your local game store for about five bucks.

Moon Landing (Conspiracy tards)?

Tags: Conspiracy, landing, Moon, tards
Posted in Moon landing on July 2nd, 2011 by RoswellUFOs.com

Okay honestly, why in the name of God are there so many people out there that want to say we NEVER landed on the moon…

What is the mental malfunction of these people that go digging for theories… Do they enjoy feeding off of peoples fears? Do they enjoy being a domestic "social terrorist" that want to disrespect heroes like Neil?

With all the evidence in the world right in front of them screaming that we did, yet they still say "it never happened"….

Haven't we answered all the questions already? I had to sit a family member of mine down and make them watch a Moon Hoax – DEBUNK special and argue for 1 hour afterward to sway them to see it my way.. At that rate with the 1,000,000 idiots on this planet… I calculate the sun will implode before we can convince all these idiots in time and thats still an IF….

Whats happening to me

Dream

1221 last night I relaxed to go to sleep.

Notes taken from journal:

Strobbing white lights - eyes closed, noticed this light very bright - not alarmed but tried to ignore it

I cant move.

Heard a croaky voice - nasty, saying something weird.

saw myself sleep walking saying in a voice that was sluggish 'please dont hurt me, please dont hurt me' over and over again

I saw my husband put his arm around me and helped me to sit down
relisation this is NOT my husband

forced to lay backwards
beings/people/creatures all around me while I am laying there. They are looking down at me. I'm afraid.
The are holding this rod, silver, long. It is inserted into my lower stomach - lower left quadrant. It hurts bad, i'm screaming, panicking
terrified and getting angry, I know i'm swearing at them.
Instantly awake, waking up my husband
Time 0107

Jesus whats happening to me.
After what occured with this dream, I was crying, a sobbing mess, my husband had to console me, i got up out of bed to have a cup of tea, my eldest son (18) was in his room at the time, said he heard me yelling out.
Jacob (5) woke up too, he also said he had a nightmare. He said he saw more ghosts, he was really scared, i cuddled him and he went back to bed. We talked, my husband, son and I for a while, I feel like i'm going out of my bloody mind!
We went back to bed, sleeped ok after.

Awoke this am - bleeding (period) very heavy.

Orbs Paranormal or not?

Orbs, those strange little balls that sometimes are caught on photos. They sure do garner a lot of debate.
The only thing I know about Orbs, is that to me, they are truly a paranormal phenomenon. I didn't find my first orb until a couple of years ago, and since then I have photographed several.
Each time I have photographed an orb it was at a site that could possibly be inhabited by a spirit.
I have TRIED many times to "Fake" orbs to find out for myself if they are dust, insects, pollen, etc. Never have I caught an orb on a photo that way.

Here is a picture taken a year after my mother and father passed away. My grandson and son are playing catch in the yard of my deceased parents home. Just before that, my grandson Ryan was crying, saying he missed his Omi. This was taken with NO Flash.

Click the image to open in full size.

This next one is in my home, the blue chair is the chair my father died in. He didn't die in MY home, but in that chair. Flash was used.

Click the image to open in full size.

To compare, here is a picture I took yesterday at a wild life preserve. Lots of wind, insects and pollen being able to be seen with the naked eye. But, you will notice, NO ORBS!!!

Click the image to open in full size.

I have many other orb pictures, either associated with my parents death or at an old Native American site.

So, now, my question is, why can't I capture "orbs" when I try, but get them when I don't expect them?

Just some thoughts and questions.

Is the 'UFO mothership over London' video real?

A new viral video making the rounds on the Internet purports to show what’s been dubbed a "mothership" and at least three separate smaller alien spacecraft filmed in the skies over London.

The most famous video (which was taken anonymously and is one of two or three versions in circulation) shows a large glowing white oval moving in and out from behind clouds over the course of about 20 seconds, and then zooming off, with three white dots also making an appearance.

So what are they? The pattern of movement does not resemble any known aircraft, and some are already proclaiming the sighting as proof of aliens. While not exactly the same as landing on the proverbial White House lawn (or above 10 Downing Street), some say an appearance over London is a pretty high-profile statement that aliens are here. Others aren't so sure. Some believe that the videos are merely a viral marketing tool to publicize the upcoming alien sci-fi film "Iron Sky." One argument against that explanation is that the film is not slated to be released until April 2012, though studios often begin early promotion, and these amateur UFO videos would take little time or effort for special effects professionals.

In fact, the crudeness of the London UFOs may be a sign of fakery. The spacecraft in the video resemble those in an alleged UFO video taken over Jerusalem earlier this year, and which many experts (including myself and those at MUFON, the largest pro-UFO organization in the world) concluded were faked.

The mothership and its UFO siblings videotaped over London are among the absolute easiest images to fake: glowing ovals and dots. There's no detail, no flying saucer windows or aliens waving hello from high above. Just white moving dots that anyone with some video-editing chops could create with little effort.

Another sign that this is a fake is the way the video begins. The cameraman is apparently randomly videotaping a mundane sidewalk, and then moves quickly to a street corner, where he takes careful note of the reactions from passerby before aiming the camera up into the sky to see what, exactly, it is that has so captivated their attention. He videotapes the skies for about a minute, then once again brings the camera down to show us a small crowd of people who are also staring into the sky and getting photos. This is highly suspicious behavior for someone who truly believes that there are alien spacecraft in the skies above that could reappear at any moment. If you spotted what you believed to be a UFO that could zip away at any moment, wouldn't training your camera on the spaceship be the first thing you would do? Whoever created, edited, and posted the video clearly wanted to make sure that viewers knew that others had seen, and were reacting to, the lights.

Aliens may in fact be out there, but the evidence so far suggests that the London UFO video is another hoax.

UK's Agent Mulder examines The Telegraph's X files of UFO sightings

Nick Pope was employed by the Ministry of Defence to investigate alien abduction and sightings as part of their now defunct UFO Project.

As part of his tour to promote the Hollywood film Battle:Los Angeles, which is released in the UK on DVD and Blue-ray on the 11th July, he examined filmed evidence of visitations from other worlds from London, Sao Paulo, Jerusalem and Moscow. The truth, as they say, is out there.
