UFO's Fact Or Fiction Are We Closer To Full Disclosure?

UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object and they have been seen since the beginning of recorded history. When most people hear the word they think of little green men or an object under intelligent control. Under that definition over 50% of Americans believe in them and 12% have reported to have seen a UFO!

It is said that 80-95% of all sightings can be debunked as airplanes, helicopters, birds, planets, meteors, weather balloons, distant lights or disintegrating satellites reentering earths atmosphere.

Modern day UFO history did not occur until June 1947 when Kenneth Arnold spotted several "flying saucers" flying by Mt. Rainer he estimated the speed to be in excess of 1000mph. Officially there was nothing that could fly that fast but it has been suggested that recovered wartime German technology was responsible or the often seen foo fighters buzzing allied aircraft.

Then a month later the famous Roswell Dailey Record announced the capture or a flying saucer on a ranch near Roswell with aliens. This story was soon changed to a weather balloon and 50 years later it was disclosed that what had occurred was the testing of manikins dropped by Para shoot. The Roswell New Mexico UFO is probably the most noted of all reports and people who were involved in the sighting and the recovery near their later years in life or upon death bed confessions have stated that what was recovered was not of this world or planet.

Even with many of the credible witnesses with the Bentwaters Case in England in 1980 and the hundreds of witnesses on the Phoenix lights in 1997 that were written off as military flares there still seems to be a lack of support from our own government to give full disclosure or any disclosure.

Even with the public at large witnessing these unidentified aircraft we seem to be no closer to full disclosure than we were 10 or 50 years ago.

Former President Jimmy Carter had admitted to seeing a UFO. Former President Ronald Reagan was said to have a fascination with extraterrestrial craft and in a 1987 speech to the United Nations asked what does it take for people to unite and stop fighting among them selves and other nations, a threat that is extra terrestrial and not from this earth! Was he pushing for a Star Wars missile defense system to defend from the Soviets or some other threat that was not from this world?

Many astronauts who flew on the Apollo missions in the late 60's early 70's have reported seeing unidentified flying objects. The O'Hare airport UFO was seen by pilots, passengers and ground observers.

With all these reports it can be easy to debunk the public at large but when you have public figures and professionals seeing the same type of phenomenon it gets hard to write off all these sighting a hallucinations or reports from crazy people especially if they are seeing them in different environments like, water, low earth in the sky and even space and the moon!

Were Project Blue Book and the Condon Report an attempt to debunk UFO's and witnesses? Things have not seemed to improve much in the last 40 years when it comes to full disclosure.

Many a skeptic can say that science can not prove that extraterrestrial craft exists. Well at one time current science thought the world was flat and the sun circled the earth. Maybe it is time we change at how we look at things.

Do they really exist or not? Is it a hoax? There seems to be no end in sight when it comes to the truth about UFO's.

One thing cannot be argued about though, is the fact that there are thousands of Arizonans who have claimed to have seen an Arizona UFO. Thousands of others from around the world have also claimed to have same or similar experiences with UFO's and have the videos to prove it.

Many people will remember the event that took place back in July of 1947 wherein a sighting occurred. It happened during a severe thunderstorm near Roswell, New Mexico, during an Air Force experiment using high altitude balloons. The experiments caused the balloons to fall to the earth which led to many peoples' belief that this was no experiment that had gone terribly wrong. Many believed that this was the result of alien activity.

Talk about mass confusion! The entire world seemed to have been sitting on the edge of their seats when they heard the news that the Air Force had a flying saucer in their possession. Shortly thereafter, the news channels announced that the Air Force did not have a UFO in their possession, but rather had nothing more than weather balloons.

People were skeptical though as many still believed that there was more to the story than what they were being told. Many felt that they had been lied to by government officials and that that the event was a cover up.

Many believers of unidentified flying object enthusiasts firmly believe that on that day in 1947, an alien spaceship really had crashed on earth. Many people in Arizona were fortunate enough to see the famous Phoenix Lights. If you have never read the story about the Phoenix Lights before, it really is something that makes you wonder if UFO's really do exist.

Even if you are the most skeptical person when it comes to an Arizona UFO, or anywhere else for that matter, you might just have a different opinion once you read about this major event that took place on March 13th, 1997 when thousands of people witnessed what was believed to be a UFO sighting in Arizona.

There are real UFO sighting clips that makes even the most skeptical person a believer. There are countless stories of people that are so sure that they have seen a UFO. There are others who think that these people have to be either crazy or are simply making the story up to just to get a little attention.

Fact or just someone pretending? Some of these believers were the most skeptical when it comes to UFO's. That is before they, too, had a real life experience.

Many people are no longer cynical following their experience that convinced them otherwise. Some individuals prefer to keep their sighting experience a secret, for fear of being laughed at. Many people who have experienced a UFO sighting have been frightened so badly that they have told very few people. Some witnesses are so troubled by their experience that they have literally had to seek professional counseling for their real life experiences.

The association between aliens and unidentified flying objects seem to go hand in hand. Reports are everywhere about these sightings as many claim to have been abducted by aliens in addition to seeing a flying object. Crazy as it may seem, these are real life stories that many people believe.

UFO sightings have taken place throughout the entire state of Arizona in such cities as Tempe, Mesa, Gold Canyon, Superior, Tucson, Flagstaff, Phoenix, and Scottsdale. Many other cities in Arizona have all had similar stories along with other parts of the world.

Again, these sightings are not just specific to Arizona. Virtually every state and several other countries share these similar experiences.

The stories are so easy to find when referencing sightings of these objects. There was a story in California where a man noticed what he believes was a saucer while sweeping his patio. The man was said to have seen a bright light that he had never seen before. He was convinced this was a UFO. The bright light was no ordinary light as it was headed towards him. He was sure this was had to be a UFO.

Whether you believe in these sightings or not, there seems to be enough ongoing debate to keep the notion alive.

UFO History: Fact, Fiction or Fantasy?

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight... words many of us may have uttered as we gazed at the night sky. But what if that bright light wasn't a star at all, but instead, something mysterious, even frightening, that we couldn't explain?

These unidentified flying objects, otherwise known as UFOs, have been sighted throughout history, with one prominent example being the sighting of Halley's Comet. The comet was first documented by Chinese astronomers in 240 B.C. and was known for terrifying people on several occasions.

UFOs were often associated with religious implications, with some people passing them off as visits from angels or other celestial beings. Even today's UFO hunters have compared the religious icons and symbols seen in old paintings to corresponding to UFO sightings.

While science was eventually able to explain the comets streaking through the night sky, there are still many incidents that have yet to be explained. UFOs are represented as everything from a funny cartoon character or a lovable ET to something as terrifying as the War of the World Martian attackers or even biological entities that take over our bodies such as that of Invasion of the Body Snatchers or other theatrical thrillers.

Modern enthusiasm for UFOs started in 1947 when an American businessman named Kenneth Arnold reported strange lights and bright unidentified objects near Mount Rainer, Wash. His report of a flat object shaped like a pan, helped to coin the phrase, "flying saucer."

That year brought hundreds of UFO sightings, with the most famous being the July 8 Roswell incident in which an alien spacecraft allegedly crashed in the desert killing the aliens within it, whose bodies were then retrieved by the government. Later, the Air Force released statements saying it had been merely debris from a downed weather balloon.

Since that now infamous incident, the UFO craze has skyrocketed and the division between those who believe and those who don't isn't always easy to determine. Even scientists and others who study the phenomenon of UFO sightings across the U.S. and the world admit that between five and 20 percent of unidentified sightings can't be identified in any way, shape or form.

So, what are these bright and shining lights in the sky? Are they creatures from another world? Aliens come to say hello or possibly even to take over our planet?

Despite the public's widespread interest in UFOs and all things related, there really hasn't been much serious scientific study of UFOs or acknowledgment in scientific literature. Any official study by the government ended in 1969 when the Condon Report stated that the study of UFOS couldn't be justified, and that conclusion was the one endorsed by the National Academy of Scientists. Even so, another review by a UFO subcommittee of the AIAA disagreed and said that at least 30 percent of the cases the government has studied were yet to be explained.

In addition, no government officials anywhere in the world has ever come out and said one way or another that UFOs are either real or not real, or if they were a concern for national defense. Despite that, there have been investigations over the years done by the military and governments in the U.S. and other countries. The first known semi-public study was done by the U.S. Air Force in 1947 when they created Project Sign, to study the UFO phenomenon and there were numerous other studies both classified and non-classified over the years leading up to this day.

Another Air Force venture well known to UFO enthusiasts is the 1950s creation of Project Blue Book to study UFOs. Before the project ended in Dec. 1969, it had collected more than 12,000 incidents of UFO sightings. Despite such an overwhelming number of incidents, Blue Book members concluded that UFOs were either extraterrestrial in nature or even anything more than either someone trying to get publicity through a hoax, mass hysteria of the people who said they saw them or misidentifying some sort of natural or manmade object.

Sightings of UFOs are announced frequently, with some incidents causing great alarm, such as the recent shutdown of the airports in China due to a rash of UFO sightings in October and November 2010. A quick scan of the Internet will show hundreds of sightings from things as simple as a bright light in the sky to something as dramatic and frightening as alien abductions or cattle mutilations.

What are these unidentified sightings and flying objects? There doesn't appear to be a concrete answer to that age old question, but that won't stop mankind from looking up into the sky and wondering, am I really alone? Or is there anyone else out there either friend or foe?
